MONTE JOE FURROW APRIL 2, 1946 – MAY 5, 2016
Monte Joe Furrow born April 2, 1946 passed away May 5, 2016 after a brave battle with cancer. Joe was a proud Vietnam veteran who was one of the brave few that returned home. After returning home he joined Local Union 412 out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Upon completing his apprenticeship, he went on to become a distinguished journeyman specializing in instrumentation. During his 40 plus years in the union, he became known as “Papa Joe” to all those men and women he worked with and taught throughout the United States. After retiring in 2015 at the age of 69 due to his diagnosis of cancer. He became known as the “Park Character” in the RV Park where he resided. He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Ballard Furrow, father, Melvin Furrow, his sister Sandra Furrow Fullagar and his first wife Susan Smith Furrow. He leaves behind his wife, Suzanne Verhougstraete-Furrow, his brother, Robert “Bobby” Furrow and his wife Patti, eldest daughter Lyz Furrow Foster and her husband James, youngest daughter Charlotte Furrow Blucher and her husband Thomas, eldest step son Joseph Kirby II and his wife Cynthia, youngest step son Michael Kirby and longtime girlfriend Alex, Seven grandchildren, Bryan Brown, Nicole Payne, Anabel Foster, Amber Drummond, Isabel Foster, Mychael Foster and “the baby” Betheny Foster, and ten great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by so many.
